Why We Love DaVinci Pinot Grigio

Fri, Dec 02, 22

As the heat of summer turns up sometimes it can be difficult to find the right beverage to quench your thirst. Water? Boring. Beer? Too fulling. Juice? Too Sweet. Wine, now a glass of white wine sounds pretty refreshing in 90-degree weather. Now the dilemma is which wine to choose?  With the wide range of white wines available, it is tough to find the right one that meets your taste bud’s standards. Most people prefer red wines in the cooler winter months and white wines in the hotter summer months.

The Unique DaVinci Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio is the second most popular white wine in America. What’s unique about this white wine is it is actually made from red grapes. In the process of making the white wine, the juice is pressed out of grapes and the skin is tossed away. By contrast, with red wine the grapes are fermented with the skins still intact, and the juice is extracted later. Pinot Grigio is a simple wine that provides a zesty refreshing taste that pairs perfectly with those hot summer days.

DaVinci History: Four Million Bottles

Since 1961, DaVinci wine has remained primarily sourced in the outskirts of the historic town known as Vinci, located in Italy’s Tuscany region. This region is largely known for producing Italy’s top Pinot Grigios. The 500 hectares of vineyards are owned and run by two local growers, Lorenzo Locci and Bruno Rossetti. For over 50 years, The Locci Family has dedicated their lives to grow grapes for DaVinci Wine. Lorenzo uses many traditions passed down from his father to care and nurture his vineyards. DaVinci wine has produced over four million bottles with sales in 47 countries across the globe.

The Taste of Success

The growers say “With every glass of our wine, you can taste the fruit of their success.” The creamy mouthfeel of the wine is packed with intense tropical flavors. Nearly 10% of the wine blend is made from Chardonnay surmaturo grapes. The grapes are left on the vine after the first initial harvest, the extra time results in higher concentration in the juice, as well as a gentler mouthfeel.  The grapes are then given a tender pressing to ensure a minimal color extraction and tannin from the skins. After the stage of fermentation, the wine is then aged on yeast lees before cold stabilized, purified and bottled. The end product is a light straw color with ripe flavors of tropical, citrus and fresh apple flavors.
