Aromas of spice with black and blue fruits and a hint of violets and woodsmoke. Palate is juicy blackberry and cassis flavors with a bright lift on the finish. Vines are 35-50 years old and each grape is grown in different soils to achieve their optimal complexity.

2016 Casa Castillo (Monastrell), Jumilla, Spain

Vines are 10-75 years old this winery uses a combination of stainless steel, concrete vats, and stone lagars for fermentation and then move the wine over to 500L French oak barrels to finish. Nose is full with blackberry preserves, vanilla, and a touch of oak. Palate leads with similar preserve fruit flavors and fills the palate with blackberries, raspberries, and baking spices. Finishes is long elegant tannins.
